Celebrated film industry drops productions

The Danish film “The Queen” (above, left) was awarded the 2019 Nordic Council Film Prize. The title refers to the playing card rather than the royals. This year, times are tougher for a different queen drama: Leonora Christina Ulfeldt (1621 – 1698) was the daughter of Christian IV and was imprisoned for 21 years because she was considered to be a risk to Queen Sophie Amalie. DR’s production was due to premiere in 2024 but has now been cancelled.
